Multiples

At the library, I ran across a copy of the HMS Penafore using a photo of a teddy bear as its cover. Why? I suspect it involved some conceptual thinking one step too far removed. BUT, it inspired a fun image of my own.

This is the second in my short series of formal animal portraits. All three paintings have been earmarked to be sent in different directions, and tho the three may never meet again, somehow it sparks my imagination to picture the disparate futures they'll observe. And who hasn't fantasized about their own twin, separated at birth? Maybe it's my gift to over-conceptualization, but I'm secretly hoping for some soap opera-worthy reunions of framed silence.

Hi Great art! Love the book and video! I know Jamie and Lee White. I took a class with Lee. Working on my first author illustrated book. What a job....but I am hanging in there. Then to find a publisher...Thanks for your blog. Really love looking at your work.

Hi Wilson! I won this portrait (Admiral) at the ArtSeen benefit auction last night. I was there volunteering and had not intended to purchase any art, but I just fell in love with it. I actually ran over to the piece (or as close an approximation as I could muster in such a crowded room) as the auction was ending to make sure I got the closing bid. Your work was in high demand! Thank you for donating to such a worthy cause. I'm just delighted with the painting. Am I to understand that it's a teddy bear? Some friends and I were discussing it last night and the most popular theory was that it's a capybara. Where did the other pieces end up? Perhaps I'll hunt them down...

Hi Deirdra-- Jaime and Lee are great. Good luck with your illustrated book. Congrats!

Whitney-- I'm glad the piece found a good home! I was sorry I couldn't attend the event, but I'm pleased to hear it was such a success. I love capybaras; such a strange animal. But I'd definitely thought of this guy as a simple, dignified bear. The other pieces have been donated as well, but I may have prints available. shoot me an email.
